Widgets

A widget is a visualization or control component you compose onto dashboards. Widgets turn the underlying time data into the views and controls each person actually needs: one person's dashboard leads with a focus-ratio chart, another's with a timer control and today's project breakdown. Same data, different lens.

Widgets are one layer of the TimeCampus extensibility model — channels bring data in, applets provide functionality, widgets visualize and control, and workflows automate.

Widget kinds

Widgets fall into a few broad kinds:

KindExamplesWhat it does
Analytics chartsFocus-ratio trend, category breakdown, project time distributionVisualize your time data over a period
Real-time metricsToday's tracked time, current focus streak, active timer stateLive numbers that update as your day unfolds
Report generatorsWeekly summary, client timesheet snapshotProduce a report view directly on the dashboard
ControlsTimer start/stop, category switcherAct on your time without leaving the dashboard
Notification surfacesReminders, workflow outputs, wellbeing promptsSurface what needs your attention

The Widgets page

Open Widgets in the app at app.timecampus.com to browse the widget library. From the list you can open a widget detail view describing what the widget shows, what data it draws on, and how it can be configured.

Widgets come to life on your Dashboard, where they're composed into the at-a-glance view of your day and week. The dashboard is the primary place you'll experience widgets; the Widgets page is where you explore what's available.

Composing a dashboard

The point of widgets is composition — building the view you need rather than accepting a fixed layout:

  1. Browse the Widgets page to see what's available
  2. Open a widget's detail view to understand what it shows and how it's configured
  3. Compose your chosen widgets onto your Dashboard

Different roles want different compositions. A freelancer might lead with billable-time and client-report widgets; a team lead with aggregate capacity views; someone protecting their focus with a focus-ratio trend and a pomodoro control. Widgets exist so none of them have to compromise.

Widgets and your data

Widgets are views over data you already own — they draw on the same sources as the Timeline and Analytics, under the same privacy rules:

  • A widget can only show data your workspace role lets you see
  • Team-facing widgets are aggregate by design — no widget exposes an individual teammate's activity
  • Nothing about placing a widget changes what is captured; capture is governed by your channels and privacy settings

What works today vs. what's rolling out

The Widgets page and widget detail views are part of the app surface today, alongside the composed Dashboard.

Roadmap

The full widget platform — a persisted widget registry, drag-and-drop dashboard placement with saved per-user layouts, and deep per-widget configuration — is still being built. Today the widget surfaces are primarily UI: you can explore the library and detail views, but placement and configuration aren't yet backed by a persistent widget engine. Third-party widgets, distributed through the marketplace, are further out — see Applets for the marketplace direction and the roadmap for sequencing.
