Getting Started Overview
TimeCampus is a privacy-first, AI-assisted time intelligence platform. It brings your work into one clear picture, helps you protect deep focus, and surfaces honest signals before overload becomes burnout — insight, never surveillance.
TimeCampus is generally available — create an account at app.timecampus.com.
The product loop
Everything in TimeCampus serves one loop:
| Stage | What happens | Where you'll see it |
|---|---|---|
| Capture | Time is recorded with as little friction as possible — a one-tap timer, quick manual entries, and channels that bring activity in from the tools you use | Time Tracking, Channels |
| Understand | Captured time assembles into a coherent, categorised picture — where the hours actually went | Timeline, Dashboard, Insights |
| Protect | Deep-work blocks are reserved and defended; sustained workload surfaces early, honest wellbeing signals | Focus tools, Burnout signals |
| Optimize | Legible trends and exportable reports drive real decisions — for you, your projects, and your team | Reports, Team analytics |
Privacy is the premise at every stage: no screenshots, no keystroke logging, user-controlled capture and retention, and aggregate-only team views.
The main areas of the app
The web app at app.timecampus.com is organised into a handful of areas:
| Area | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Dashboard | Your at-a-glance day and week, composed from widgets — see Dashboard |
| Time Tracking | The timer, your time entries, and the approval workflow — see Timer |
| Timeline | The chronological view of your captured time — see Timeline |
| Projects | Projects, tasks, budgets, and billable time — see Projects |
| Focus tools | Pomodoro sessions, focus score, work patterns, and burnout signals — see Pomodoro |
| Insights | Analytics, reports, app usage, email, and meeting insights — see Analytics |
| Teams | Aggregate team analytics, resource planning, and team activity — see Team analytics |
| Clients | The client portal and expense tracking for billable work — see Client portal |
| Channels | The capture endpoints that bring activity into TimeCampus — see Channels |
| Extensibility | Widgets, workflows, applets, templates, and industry solutions — see Widgets |
You don't need all of it on day one. Most people start with the timer and the Dashboard, then grow into projects, focus tools, and automation as the data accumulates.
Environment selection
All TimeCampus tools default to production. You can switch to alpha or local by setting the BURDENOFF_ENV environment variable before launching any tool:
export BURDENOFF_ENV=alpha
For detailed endpoint tables and tool-specific notes, see Environment selection.
Your first session, in order
- Sign in and set up your workspace — platform sign-in, personal vs shared workspaces, and preferences that follow you across devices.
- Track your first time entry — start the timer, stop it, add a manual entry, and see where it shows up.
- Read your Dashboard — the widgets that turn entries into an at-a-glance day.
Going deeper
Once the basics feel comfortable, each area has its own guides:
- Time tracking — entries, approvals, and location & geofencing
- Projects & tasks — projects, tasks, and budgets & billable time
- Focus & wellbeing — focus score, work patterns, and burnout signals
- Insights — analytics, reports, app usage, email, and meetings
- Teams & clients — team analytics, resource planning, client portal, and expenses
- Extensibility — widgets, workflows, applets, templates, and industry solutions
- Privacy & security — the privacy model, access control, and data controls
- Developers — CLI, Node SDK, Python SDK, GraphQL API
