Time Entries
A time entry is the atomic record of tracked time: what you did, when it started, when it ended, and what it was for. Every timeline block, dashboard number, report row, and approval builds on entries — get these right and everything downstream is right.
TimeCampus is generally available — create an account at app.timecampus.com.
Where they live
Go to Time Tracking → Entries for the full list. Entries also surface by date on the Timeline and aggregated on the Dashboard.
Anatomy of an entry
| Field | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Description | What the work was, in your words |
| Start / end time | The tracked window |
| Duration | Computed from start and end — never entered by hand for timer entries |
| Project / task | Attribution for totals, budgets, and reports |
| Billable | Whether the time counts toward billable hours |
| Hourly rate | Optional rate for billable work |
| Source | How it was captured — from the timer or entered manually |
List and filter
The entries list is workspace-scoped and filterable, so you can answer questions directly:
- By date range — "what did I do last week?"
- By project — "how much has Acme taken this month?"
- Combined with the running stats — total hours, billable hours, entry count, active timers — for the same range, computed for you
Manual entries
Not everything gets a running timer. Add a manual entry when you:
- Forgot to start the timer
- Did work away from the keyboard (a call, a site visit, a whiteboard session)
- Are backfilling a day from your calendar
Set the description, start and end times, and attribution; TimeCampus computes the duration. Manual entries carry a manual source marker but otherwise count identically to timer entries in every total and report. One rule is enforced: the end time must come after the start time.
Edit and correct
Any entry can be edited after the fact — description, times, project, task, billable flag. Corrections matter more here than in most tools: TimeCampus is designed to learn from your corrections, so fixing a miscategorised block doesn't just clean up one report — it teaches the platform how to classify similar work better next time. Review-and-correct beats babysit-and-retype.
Duplicate and bulk operations
- Duplicate an entry when today looks like yesterday — same client call, same standing block — and adjust the times.
- Bulk delete clears a set of entries at once, for cleaning up an experiment or a bad import.
Deleting an entry removes it from lists and totals while preserving history for audit purposes.
Categories on the Timeline
Beyond project attribution, your entries appear contextually categorised on the Timeline — meetings, deep work, communication, breaks — so the day reads as a coherent picture rather than a flat list. Project answers "for whom"; category answers "what kind of work".
Billable time
The billable flag splits every total into billable and non-billable hours, with an optional hourly rate per entry. This is the foundation for client-ready reporting and profitability views — see Budgets & billable time and Expenses.
Where entries flow
| Downstream | How entries feed it |
|---|---|
| Timeline | Entries render chronologically, categorised, per day — Timeline |
| Dashboard | Totals, billable share, and running timers roll up live — Dashboard |
| Reports | Timesheets and project breakdowns export from entries — Reports |
| Approvals | A period of entries is what you submit for sign-off — Time approval |
| Analytics | Trends like focus ratio and context-switching derive from the same data — Analytics |
There is exactly one source of truth. Fix the entry and every downstream view fixes itself.
