Your First Time Entry

Time entries are the atomic unit of TimeCampus — every total, report, and insight builds on them. This tutorial takes you from an empty workspace to your first tracked time in a few minutes.

Get started

TimeCampus is generally available — create an account at app.timecampus.com.

What you'll do

  1. Start and stop the one-tap timer
  2. See the entry appear in your entries list
  3. Add a manual entry for time you forgot to track
  4. Attribute time to a project
  5. Find your time on the Dashboard, Timeline, and in Reports

1. Start the timer

  1. Go to Time Tracking → Timer.
  2. Add a short description of what you're working on (you can edit it later).
  3. Tap Start.

The timer is now running and elapsed time counts up live. There's exactly one thing to remember: tap start when you begin. Everything else is derived for you.

2. Stop the timer

When you're done, tap Stop. TimeCampus closes the running timer into a finished time entry:

  • Start and end times are recorded
  • Duration is computed for you — no arithmetic
  • The entry is marked as coming from the timer, so you can always tell timed entries from manual ones

3. See the entry

Open Time Tracking → Entries. Your new entry is in the list with its description, times, and duration. From here you can edit it, duplicate it, or delete it — the Time entries guide covers the full list.

4. Add a manual entry

Forgot to start the timer this morning? Add the block after the fact:

  1. In Time Tracking → Entries, create a new entry.
  2. Set the description, start time, and end time.
  3. Save.

Manual entries and timer entries live side by side and count equally in your totals. Corrections are a feature, not a failure — TimeCampus is designed to learn from the corrections you make, so categorisation gets more accurate over time.

5. Attribute it to a project

Entries become far more useful once they're attributed:

AttributionWhat it gives you
ProjectPer-project totals, budgets, and client-ready breakdowns — see Projects
TaskFiner-grained tracking inside a project — see Tasks
Billable flagSeparates billable from non-billable hours in every total — see Budgets & billable time

You can set a project and task when starting the timer, when creating a manual entry, or by editing an entry afterwards. On the Timeline, your time also appears contextually grouped — meetings, deep work, communication — so the day reads as a story rather than a list.

Where your time shows up

One entry, many views:

SurfaceWhat you'll see
DashboardToday's and this week's totals, billable hours, and any running timer — see Dashboard
TimelineThe entry placed chronologically in your day — see Timeline
ReportsThe entry rolled into exportable timesheets and project breakdowns — see Reports
Time ApprovalIf your team uses sign-off, entries are what you submit for a period — see Time approval

Honest totals, instantly

As soon as entries exist, TimeCampus keeps running stats for any date range — total hours, billable hours, entry count, and active timers. No spreadsheet, no end-of-week reconstruction.
